CTF Tips for ASCII

  • • ASCII values 32-126 are printable characters
  • • Look for ASCII codes in network traffic and logs
  • • Try different number bases (decimal, hex, octal, binary)
  • • ASCII can hide flags in seemingly random numbers
  • • Check for ASCII art containing hidden messages
  • • Some CTFs use extended ASCII (128-255) characters
  • • Combine ASCII conversion with other encoding methods
